This my dears, is a baby sling. Two fabulous gal pals of mine are having babies so I thought I'd whip up something handmade and super handy.
The first gal, her colors are tan and pink. Trust me, it's really cute. I chose to use a maroony/red against a French rose pattern. My loose interpretation of tan and pink.
I got the rings at the hardware store. The largest they had were 2" but I think from now on I will use slingrings because first of all, it's impossible to find anything larger than 2" at the hardware store and really that's a tight fit. Secondly, slingrings.com has a variety of colors. Don't worry, I checked the specs on the hardware store rings and they are rated up to 200 pounds per ring. If your baby is 200 pounds you have bigger problems than finding a baby sling!
Yes, I have striped wallpaper in my bathroom. Yes, I plan on changing that (soon). Yes, I cropped my head out of the picture on purpose. I already opened my bag of flour that I was going to test the sling with so I used the next best thing, my cat. He didn't like it too much but I think it was squishing his stitches. He just got neutered. I mean, we're close enough I can tell you stuff like that right?! And yes, I did wash the baby sling after using the cat to test it.
Well, there you have it. I have another one to make for the other fabulous gal. I will post pics of it also because the fabric is so pretty. My goal is to make slings that the moms won't be embarrassed to wear in public. Just because the nursery is pink and blue and fru-fru doesn't mean EVERYTHING has to be. Unless you want it to be. I can accommodate.
Let me know what you think....about the baby sling, not my bathroom wallpaper.
